This one is for the big wine lover! Rich powerful flavors of blueberry, purple plum, black pepper and thyme are present on the nose and palate, with a pleasant lingering finish of dark chocolate. At Capo Creek, we've used this grape primarily as a blending grape with Zinfandel to create our own Songwriter Red Blend. But Petite Sirah is actually a rare grape variety, with just under 12,000 acres planted worldwide, mostly in California. It is a cross between Syrah and Peloursin, and it is known for its intense color, high tannins and great acidity. These characteristics make it a popular choice for wine collectors, as it ages beautifully in the cellar. But even if you're not a collector, you can still enjoy this wine now. The tannins in this selection are already starting to integrate nicely, creating a pleasant drinking experience even in its youth. To fully appreciate this wine, we recommend pairing it with rich and flavorful food that has a bit of fattiness to help balance out the tannins and acidity
